2026 Ford Heavy Duty Truck
Ford
F-250 & F-350 Super Duty
Fifth wheels, goosenecks, horse trailers and real work.
When a trailer outgrows an F-150, the Super Duty is the answer. F-250 and F-350 trucks are built for heavy fifth wheels, goosenecks, horse trailers and equipment, with heavier frames, axles and brakes.
I spent years at an RV dealership watching people try to pull fifth wheels with too little truck. If you’re towing something big, this is where we start.
I sell new and used Super Dutys in Dewey, near Prescott, to buyers from all over Arizona. Don’t see the exact one you want? Text me anyway. I’ll tell you what’s available and what your options are.

What It’s Great For
- Fifth wheels and goosenecksThe pin weight of a fifth wheel eats payload fast. Super Duty trucks have the payload to handle it.
- Big travel trailersLong, heavy bumper-pulls that are too much for a half-ton truck.
- Work and ranch useHay, equipment, livestock trailers and plow or service bodies.

Specs
The Numbers That Matter
| Max conventional towing | Up to 30,000 lbs (properly equipped) |
|---|---|
| Max gooseneck towing | Up to 40,000 lbs (properly equipped) |
| Max payload | Up to 8,000 lbs (properly equipped) |
| Gas engines | 6.8L V8 (405 hp) and 7.3L V8 (430 hp, 485 lb-ft) |
| Diesel engines | 6.7L Power Stroke (475 hp, 1,050 lb-ft) and High Output Power Stroke (500 hp, 1,200 lb-ft) |
From Ford’s published 2026 specs. Maximums apply to properly equipped vehicles only. Always confirm on the specific vehicle.
Gas or diesel? If you tow heavy and often, especially up Arizona grades, the diesel earns its keep. If you tow a few times a year, the 7.3L gas V8 is a strong, simpler option.
Maximums apply to specific configurations across the Super Duty lineup. F-250 and F-350 ratings vary a lot by cab, bed, axle, engine and single or dual rear wheels. I’ll match the truck to your trailer’s pin or tongue weight.

Which Travel Trailers Can It Tow?
I sell Rockwood, R-Pod and Winnebago travel trailers too. Here’s how a few real floor plans line up against the Super Duty’s max tow rating of 30,000 lbs.
| Travel trailer | GVWR | vs. 30,000 lbs |
|---|---|---|
| R-Pod RP-153 | 4,524 lbs | Good fit |
| Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108DS | 5,500 lbs | Good fit |
| R-Pod RP-206 | 6,229 lbs | Good fit |
| Rockwood Ultra Lite 2606WS | 8,542 lbs | Good fit |
Good fit: GVWR at or under 80% of the max tow rating (my rule of thumb). Tight: under the rating without much margin. Over: above it. Compared against the Super Duty’s maximum rating; your vehicle may be rated lower, and payload has to be checked separately.
FAQ
Questions I Get a Lot
Do I need an F-250 or an F-350 for a fifth wheel?
It depends on the fifth wheel’s weight and pin weight. Pin weight is usually 15 to 25 percent of the trailer’s loaded weight, and it counts against payload. Send me the trailer’s sticker and I’ll tell you which truck it needs.
How much can a 2026 Super Duty tow?
Up to 30,000 lbs conventional and up to 40,000 lbs gooseneck when properly equipped. Those are lineup maximums; a specific truck may be rated much lower.
Gas or diesel Super Duty?
Diesel makes far more torque and suits heavy, frequent towing. The 7.3L gas V8 costs less up front and is simpler to own. How often and how heavy you tow decides it.
