2026 Ford Full-Size Truck

Ford
F-150

America’s do-everything truck. Daily driver, work truck and tow rig in one.

The F-150 is the truck most people should start with. It rides well enough to drive every day, it has a real bed, and properly equipped it out-tows almost anything short of a Super Duty.

The hard part isn’t deciding on an F-150. It’s choosing between eight trims and six engines. That’s where I come in.

I sell new and used F-150s in Dewey, near Prescott, to buyers from all over Arizona. Don’t see the exact one you want? Text me anyway. I’ll tell you what’s available and what your options are.

Trims

The F-150 Trims, in Plain English

XLThe work-truck starting point. Simple, tough, and the most affordable way into an F-150.
STXXL with a sportier look and a few more features. A popular value pick.
XLTThe sweet spot for a lot of buyers: comfortable, well-equipped, lots of options.
LariatWhere it starts to feel upscale, with leather and more tech.
King RanchWestern-themed luxury with signature leather.
PlatinumThe luxury F-150, with nearly everything standard.
TremorOff-road-focused, with upgraded suspension and all-terrain tires.
RaptorThe high-speed desert truck. Built for dirt, not for maximum towing.

Specs

The Numbers That Matter

Max towing13,500 lbs (3.5L EcoBoost, properly equipped)
Max payload2,440 lbs (3.5L EcoBoost, properly equipped)
Engines2.7L EcoBoost V6, 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 5.0L V8, 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid; Raptor gets its own high-output engines
Hybrid3.5L PowerBoost: 430 hp, 578 lb-ft
Pro Power OnboardAvailable, up to 7.2 kW

From Ford’s published 2026 specs. Maximums apply to properly equipped vehicles only. Always confirm on the specific vehicle.

For towing in Arizona, I usually point people to the 3.5L EcoBoost or the PowerBoost hybrid. Both make big torque for long grades like I-17 and Yarnell Hill.

Max ratings apply to specific builds. A lot of F-150s on dealer lots are rated well under 13,500 lbs, so check the sticker on the specific truck, and check its payload too.

Which Travel Trailers Can It Tow?

Travel Trailers

I sell Rockwood, R-Pod and Winnebago travel trailers too. Here’s how a few real floor plans line up against the F-150’s max tow rating of 13,500 lbs.

Travel trailerGVWRvs. 13,500 lbs
R-Pod RP-1534,524 lbsGood fit
Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108DS5,500 lbsGood fit
R-Pod RP-2066,229 lbsGood fit
Rockwood Ultra Lite 2606WS8,542 lbsGood fit

Good fit: GVWR at or under 80% of the max tow rating (my rule of thumb). Tight: under the rating without much margin. Over: above it. Compared against the F-150’s maximum rating; your vehicle may be rated lower, and payload has to be checked separately.

FAQ

Questions I Get a Lot

How much can a 2026 F-150 tow?

Up to 13,500 lbs when properly equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost. Many F-150s are rated lower depending on engine, axle ratio, cab, bed and packages, so check the specific truck.

Which F-150 trim is the best value?

For a lot of buyers it’s the XLT: comfortable, well-equipped and widely available. If you tow, the right engine and tow package matter more than the trim.

Is the F-150 hybrid good for towing?

Yes. The 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid makes 430 hp and 578 lb-ft, and it adds onboard generator power. Its tow rating is lower than the top 3.5L EcoBoost setup, so match it to your trailer.

Can an F-150 tow a travel trailer?

Most bumper-pull travel trailers, yes, when the truck is properly equipped. Use the trailer’s GVWR, not its dry weight, and check payload, which is usually the first limit you hit.
