Quick answer
The 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S is a 23 ft 10 in couples trailer with a 6,993-lb GVWR, a 5,393-lb dry weight and one slide. Good Ford matches are the F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, 5.0L V8 or PowerBoost, and the Expedition 4x4 with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. A Ranger or a 2.7L F-150 can pull it on paper, but both run past the 80% rule and get tight on payload. The 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S is a two-person trailer built around one idea: a real queen bedroom up front, a full bath in the back, and a living area that doesn’t feel like a hallway. It’s 23′ 10″ long with one slide, a 6,993-lb GVWR and a 53-gallon fresh tank. That puts it right at the size a lot of couples in Arizona end up at after they’ve camped in something smaller and gotten tired of climbing over each other.
Here’s the part a brochure won’t tell you. The 2213S is a “half-ton trailer,” but it lands in an awkward spot. It’s just heavy enough that a Ranger and the 2.7L F-150 look fine on paper and then get tight once you load the truck. I started in RV sales before I sold Fords, and this is the exact weight class where I see people show up with the wrong truck.
Below I’ll walk the floor plan, show what it really weighs when you camp, run the math on every Ford people ask about, and cover what it’s like to tow up I-17 and camp off-grid in this state. We order the 2213S at the dealership where I work in Dewey, near Prescott, with a fully enclosed, heated underbelly and 400 watts of factory solar, so I’ll tell you why that matters too.

Walking through the 2213S floor plan, front to back
Entry and bedroom. The entry door is up front on the door side, right beside the bedroom curtain. That means you walk in next to the bed, not into the kitchen, so the kitchen counter isn’t a landing zone for everything you carry in. The queen is a walk-around bed on an aluminum base with two big drawers underneath. There’s a wardrobe on each side, a row of cabinets overhead and a wide front window. A curtain closes the bedroom off instead of a solid door. It saves weight and space, but light and sound carry if one of you is up early.
Living area and slide. The slide holds two theater recliners with cup holders and a tall black 12V refrigerator. Putting the fridge in the slide opens up the middle of the trailer, and it’s why this floor plan feels wider than a 24-footer usually does. Rockwood offers a hide-a-bed sofa in place of the recliners if you want room for a grandkid or a guest.
Kitchen. The kitchen runs along the door side across from the slide. You get a three-burner range with a glass cover and an oven below, a microwave above, solid-surface counters and a corner sink with a cover that gives you back counter space. An electric fireplace is built in under the counter near the door, and the TV is mounted above the counter where you can see it from the recliners. The Power Pro control panel sits at the end of the counter by the door, so you can check tanks and battery without walking to the back.
Outdoor kitchen. A Suburban griddle pulls out of the side on a slide-out tray, with an 18-foot power awning above it. In Arizona, cooking outside keeps heat and grease smell out of a small trailer, and I tell people it’s one of the most-used features on trailers this size.
Rear bath. It’s a full bath across the back with a shower behind a sliding glass door, a toilet, a vanity with a medicine cabinet, and a tall linen cabinet. Rear baths are nice because they’re away from the bedroom, and this one is roomier than what you get in most 20-foot couples trailers.
Storage. The drop frame gives you a deep pass-through bay up front with a light and a finished floor. That’s where chairs, leveling blocks and the hose go. Pack heavy stuff there, not in the back of the trailer. Weight behind the axles is what makes a trailer sway.
What the 2213S really weighs when you camp
The 5,393-lb dry weight is the trailer empty, before batteries, propane, water or anything you own. Nobody camps like that. Here’s how fast the 1,600 lbs of cargo capacity goes.
| Item | Adds | CCC left |
|---|---|---|
| Dry weight (UVW) | 5,393 lbs | 1,600 lbs |
| Full fresh tank (53 gal × 8.3 lbs) | +440 lbs | 1,160 lbs |
| Two full 20-lb LP tanks (estimate) | +74 lbs | 1,086 lbs |
| One group-27 battery (estimate) | +60 lbs | 1,026 lbs |
| Factory options like the extra solar panel and enclosed underbelly (estimate) | +75 lbs | 951 lbs |
| Food, bedding, cookware, chairs, tools (estimate) | +400 lbs | 551 lbs |
| Estimated camping weight | 6,442 lbs | 551 lbs left |
Estimates for planning only. The trailer’s yellow sticker shows the actual weight and CCC as built, and a CAT scale shows the truth. I’ll go over both with you.
Two things jump out. First, water alone eats more than a quarter of your cargo capacity. If you’re heading to a campground with hookups, tow with the fresh tank empty and fill when you get there. That frees up about 440 lbs and makes the drive easier. Second, if you’re boondocking and need to haul water in, you still have room, but you have to be honest about the gear. A second battery, a generator and a full cooler add up fast.
Plan your truck around a loaded trailer of about 6,500 lbs, and size it against the full 6,993-lb GVWR so you have margin.
Which Ford can tow the Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S
I use two tests. The trailer’s GVWR should be at or under about 80% of the vehicle’s tow rating, and the truck’s payload has to cover the tongue weight plus everyone and everything in the cab and bed. For the 2213S, the 80% rule means you want about 8,750 lbs of tow rating or more.
| Ford (properly equipped) | Max tow | 2213S GVWR as % of rating | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| F-150 3.5L EcoBoost | 13,500 lbs | 52% | Good match |
| F-150 5.0L V8 | 12,800 lbs | 55% | Good match |
| F-150 PowerBoost | 11,600 lbs | 60% | Good match (check payload) |
| Expedition 4x4, Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package | 9,600 lbs | 73% | Good match (check payload) |
| F-150 2.7L EcoBoost | 8,400 lbs | 83% | Works, with limits |
| Ranger XL/XLT/Lariat, Trailer Tow Package | 7,500 lbs | 93% | Not recommended |
| Ranger Raptor | 5,510 lbs | 127% | Not recommended |
| Explorer | 5,000 lbs | 140% | Not recommended |
Max ratings vary by cab, bed, axle ratio and options. The 8,400-lb 2.7L number is a best case; many 2.7L configurations are rated lower. Check your truck’s exact rating, not the brochure max.
People ask about the Maverick and Bronco for anything with “Mini Lite” on it. Neither is close here; the 2213S is more than 1.5 times their best ratings.
The payload check, where trucks really run out
I figure tongue weight at 13% of GVWR, which is 909 lbs for the 2213S. The dry hitch weight is 650 lbs, but it goes up as you load the front storage bay and fill propane. Add about 90 lbs for a weight-distribution hitch.
| Load on the truck | Couple | Family of four |
|---|---|---|
| Tongue weight (13% of 6,993) | 909 lbs | 909 lbs |
| Weight-distribution hitch | 90 lbs | 90 lbs |
| People | 350 lbs | 500 lbs |
| Gear in the truck | 150 lbs | 250 lbs |
| Payload needed | 1,499 lbs | 1,749 lbs |
Estimates. The family column applies if you order the hide-a-bed sofa. Your truck’s payload is on the yellow sticker in the driver door jamb.
Now compare that to real trucks:
- Ranger 2.3L 4x4 SuperCrew (about 1,763 lbs payload): about 264 lbs to spare for a couple. Legal, but you’re at 93% of tow rating with almost no payload margin. That’s not how I want anyone going up Yarnell Hill.
- Ranger 2.7L 4x4 SuperCrew (about 1,375 lbs payload): over by about 124 lbs before you leave the driveway. The bigger engine has less payload, which surprises a lot of people.
- F-150 2.7L: Ford’s best-case payload is about 1,775 lbs, which leaves a couple about 276 lbs and a family almost nothing. Most 2.7L trucks on a lot are trims with less payload than that, so the sticker matters.
- Expedition and PowerBoost: plenty of tow rating, but both are heavy vehicles and payload varies a lot by trim. A family of four needs about 1,750 lbs. Bring me the sticker before you assume.
- F-150 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L V8: the easy answer, especially in an XL or XLT where payload tends to run higher than in loaded trims.
If you already own a truck, don’t guess. Text me a photo of your door sticker and I’ll run this table with your real numbers. You can also see the full breakdowns on our F-150 towing capacity guide and Ranger towing capacity guide.
Towing and camping the 2213S in Arizona
Altitude and long grades
Prescott sits around 5,400 feet and Flagstaff near 7,000. A rough rule of thumb is that a naturally aspirated engine loses about 3% of its power per 1,000 feet. The 5.0L V8 still pulls this trailer fine, but it works harder up high. Turbocharged EcoBoost engines hold their power at altitude much better, which is why I lean toward the 3.5L EcoBoost for anyone who lives in the Prescott area or tows to Flagstaff often.
The 2213S is a full 8 feet wide and almost 11 feet tall, so it’s a big flat wall to push into wind. On I-17 out of the Valley toward Sunset Point you’ll be climbing for a long time, often into a headwind. Watch your transmission temperature, use tow/haul mode, and let the truck downshift on the way back down instead of riding the brakes. Set your trailer brake controller with the trailer loaded, not empty.
Summer heat
The 2213S runs an 18,000 BTU Furrion Chill Cube. That’s a bigger unit than most trailers this size carry, and it pushes air through ceiling ducts instead of dumping it all in the middle of the trailer, so the bedroom and bath get their share. The roof is vacuum laminated with block foam insulation, which helps hold the cool in. Even so, no single-AC trailer stays cool in direct sun on a 115°F Phoenix afternoon. Park so the big front bedroom window faces away from the afternoon sun, run the awning out and close the shades early in the day.
The 12V compressor fridge is a real plus here. Absorption fridges struggle when it’s 110°F outside. A compressor fridge keeps cold like the one in your kitchen, as long as the battery is fed. The tires are Goodyear Endurance ST205/75R14s rated to 65 psi, nitrogen-filled, with a Bluetooth tire pressure monitor. That matters on 150°F summer asphalt. Set them to the pressure on the trailer’s tire placard when they’re cold, before every trip.
Dry camping and solar
This is where the 2213S, built the way we order it, stands out. Here’s the water math for two people conserving at about 4 to 5 gallons each per day:
- Fresh tank: 53 gal ÷ 8 to 10 gal a day = about 5 to 6 days.
- Gray tank: most of that water goes down the shower and sink. At roughly 6 to 7 gallons a day into a 29-gal tank, gray fills in about 4 days. That’s your real limit.
- Black tank: 29 gal is plenty for two people for a week.
Power: every 2027 Mini Lite gets a 200W panel, an 1,800W inverter, a 30-amp controller and a double battery box. We order ours with a second 200W panel from the factory, so you’re at 400 watts on the roof. In Arizona sun, that can put back very roughly 1,500 watt-hours on a good day (my estimate). That covers the 12V fridge, lights, the water pump, fans and phone charging with a decent battery bank. It won’t run the air conditioner. For AC you need hookups or a generator.
The trailer also comes Starlink prepped, which matters if you work from camp, and Starlink is one more thing for the solar to feed. Ask what battery comes with your unit. I’d put lithium in that double battery box if you plan to dry camp a lot. Rockwood also lists a Power Package on select Mini Lite models with five 200W panels, a 460Ah lithium battery and a 3,000W inverter. Ask me whether it can be ordered on the 2213S if you want to camp off-grid for weeks at a time.
Winter at elevation and dirt roads
Every 2027 Mini Lite has 12V heated tanks, heated dump valves and radiant foil in the front cap, underbelly and slide. We go further and order the enclosed underbelly with thermostatically controlled heated holding tanks. For Flagstaff, Williams or the White Mountains in shoulder season, that’s the difference between camping in October and winterizing in September. The heaters run off 12V, so the extra solar helps there too. The enclosed belly also shields tanks and plumbing from gravel on forest roads, which is how most public-land camping in this state starts. The two LP tanks are 20-pounders, so if you run the furnace hard on cold nights up high, plan on refilling more often.
What I like, and what I’d want you to know
What I like
- A walk-around queen with under-bed drawers and a full rear bath in under 24 feet.
- The fridge in the slide opens up the middle of the trailer.
- An 18,000 BTU ducted air conditioner, which is more AC than most trailers this size get.
- Built the way we order it, it’s ready to boondock: 400W of solar, an inverter, a 12V fridge, Starlink prep, and an enclosed, heated underbelly.
- Laminated walkable roof, composite walls and an aluminum frame instead of wood framing.
- Power stabilizers and a pull-out griddle come standard.
What I’d want you to know
- It’s heavier than it looks. At 6,993 lbs GVWR it needs more truck than most people expect from a 24-footer.
- The 29-gal gray tank fills before you run out of fresh water.
- The bedroom has a curtain, not a door, and the entry door opens right beside the bed.
- It sleeps two as built. If you need room for kids regularly, look at a bunk model.
- Factory options add weight and come out of your 1,600 lbs of CCC. Read the yellow sticker on the exact unit.
What to check when you see a 2213S in person
- Read the yellow sticker by the entry door. Note the actual UVW and CCC as built with options. That’s the number your truck math uses.
- Close the slide and walk it. Can you open the fridge, get past the recliners and reach the bathroom with the slide in? That’s how you’ll use it at a rest stop or a tight overnight spot.
- Lie on the bed and check both sides. Make sure you both fit around it, the wardrobes open fully with you standing there, and the under-bed drawers clear your feet.
- Stand in the shower. Slide the glass door and check head room. If you’re tall, check it under the vent too.
- Find the battery, the inverter and the solar controller. See what battery is installed and whether there’s room for a second one in the double box.
- Look under the trailer. Confirm the enclosed underbelly and check where the drains sit for clearance on dirt roads.
- Check the tires. Read the four-digit date code on the sidewall. Newer is better in Arizona heat.
- Stand at the range and look around. Can you see the TV, the door and out the window while you cook? Pull out the griddle and see how it sits next to the awning arm.
How the 2213S compares
These are the closest alternatives in the brands I sell. All have one slide and a front bedroom with a rear bath, or a close equivalent.
| Model | Length | Dry / GVWR | Sleeps | Fresh / gray / black |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S | 23′ 10″ | 5,393 / 6,993 lbs | 2 | 53 / 29 / 29 gal |
| Rockwood Mini Lite 2205S | 23′ 10″ | 5,111 / 6,794 lbs | 2 | 54 / 29 / 29 gal |
| R-Pod RP-207 | 25′ 8″ | 4,718 / 6,218 lbs | 2 | 40 / 40 / 30 gal |
| Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108FBS | 22′ 5″ | 4,142 / 5,500 lbs | 4 | 31 / 25 / 25 gal |
2027 published or dealer-listed specs. Options change weights; check each unit’s sticker.
The 2205S is the 2213S’s closest sibling, about 200 lbs lighter on GVWR with the same tanks. It’s worth seeing both on the lot to decide which layout you like. The R-Pod RP-207 is longer but almost 800 lbs lighter in GVWR, and its 40-gal gray tank actually helps dry campers. It still sits just over the 80% line for a 2.7L F-150’s best rating, so it doesn’t open up the Ranger. The Micro Minnie 2108FBS is the one that changes your truck options. At 5,500 lbs GVWR and 7 feet wide, it fits a properly equipped Ranger with room to spare, but you give up a lot of tank size and some living space. Browse all of them on our Rockwood page.

FAQ
Common Questions
How much does the 2027 Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S weigh?
It weighs 5,393 lbs dry per the published specs. Loaded for camping with water, propane, a battery and gear, expect roughly 6,400 to 6,500 lbs. Your trailer’s yellow sticker shows the exact weight as built.
What is the GVWR of the Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S?
The GVWR is 6,993 lbs, with 1,600 lbs of cargo carrying capacity over the 5,393-lb dry weight. Use the GVWR, not the dry weight, when you pick a tow vehicle.
Can a Ford Ranger tow a Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S?
On paper the 2.3L Ranger with the Trailer Tow Package (7,500 lbs) can, but the 2213S’s GVWR is 93% of that rating and payload is nearly used up with two adults aboard. The 2.7L Ranger runs out of payload first. I don’t recommend a Ranger for this trailer in Arizona.
Can a Ford F-150 tow the Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S?
Yes. The 3.5L EcoBoost, 5.0L V8 and PowerBoost F-150s are all good matches, using 52% to 60% of their max ratings. The 2.7L EcoBoost works with limits since the trailer is about 83% of its 8,400-lb max.
How many people does the Mini Lite 2213S sleep?
It sleeps two on a walk-around front queen as built. An optional hide-a-bed sofa in place of the theater seats adds room for one or two more.
Is the Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S good for boondocking?
It’s one of the better small trailers for it. It has a 53-gal fresh tank, a 12V fridge, heated tanks and dump valves, and 200W of solar with an 1,800W inverter standard. We order ours with a second 200W panel and the enclosed, heated underbelly. Two people conserving water can plan on about four days before the 29-gal gray tank is full.
How long is the Rockwood Mini Lite 2213S?
It is 23 ft 10 in long, 8 ft wide and about 10 ft 11 in tall.
What air conditioner does the 2213S have?
It has one 18,000 BTU Furrion Chill Cube air conditioner, ducted through the ceiling. You need hookups or a generator to run it.
